​This is Puja Sarkar, founder of “SMS” an artistic & socio-cultural  organization to support artists and promote art practices worldwide. I welcome you to understand my aim as the founder of this organization.  For me, the foundation of SMS was born not out of privilege, but out of struggle. When I built it, I was a young student pursuing my Master’s degree, uncertain about my future as an artist. During my college years, as a young artist filled with dreams, I faced countless struggles, failures, rejections, and moments of invisibility. I had no resources, no godfather in the art world, and no platform that would recognize my works. Established galleries rarely promoted young or unknown artists like me. As a visual artist, I am always eager to create an art platform for my fellow artist friends who are actively working in the field of visual arts without any support like me. So in 2009, these experiences became the foundation that inspired me to build a platform—SMS—that could offer opportunities, visibility, and encouragement to emerging artists in their moments of crisis with the shared goal of enhancing the quality of artistic creations by exchanging excellent ideas and concepts.. My vision was clear from the beginning: the guidance, support, and opportunities I never received in my formative years, I wanted to create and share with others.

Generally speaking, SMS stands for Short Message Service. Every canvas and artwork of the artist members conveys a distinct message and a shared conceptual visual language of the modern day. We, the artists of the "SMS" , are bonded or tuned with some common understanding and yet are different in our aesthetic appeals. However, we are united and connected by a common sense of empathy and artistic understanding. When we started our journey, the mobile handset was newly launched in India, and ‘SMS’ was becoming important in our lives to facilitate communication processes. So I chose the abbreviation ‘SMS’ for my organization at that time. In this day and age, we have become reliant on technology for communication. There is no denying this fact. Therefore, just as a hand holds a cell phone that provides various messages and information in the modern era, same as each piece of our art communicates a short but important message toward society and the art field. The "SMS"  Artists' sensible, varied artwork expresses a message of life and exhibits a modern, vibrant and lively art style and showcasing a contemporary new sense of art Conveying A Message of Life…..

Founded & Established by PUJA SARKAR in 2009 in Kolkata, India. SMS — Artistic & Socio-Cultural Govt Registered Organization is a collective of artists, educators, and visionaries committed to using art as a language of empathy, awareness, and transformation. Through exhibitions, cultural initiatives, and educational programs, SMS brings together diverse voices to foster dialogue, inclusivity, and social change.

Since beginning the organization has established itself successfully in the contemporary art scenario in India by conducting many prestigious art programmes as sponsored art shows, exhibitions, workshops, and art talk shows at different places. It has earned goodwill for contribution in Art & Culture for last sixteen years by promoting and helping Indian Artists to showcase individual artworks in a common platform. The organization has also received Government Grants in 2019 and accolades for his contribution in Indian Art Scenario. “SMS” as an organization, besides its artistic and creative activities, raised hands to many orphans, old age, handicapped, under privileged or physically and mentally challenged people of our society. It has a separate social initiative wing organization that works for Socio-Cultural Upliftment in our society. “SMS”  is a reputed and prestigious art & social organization
